Introducing Mountain Net!
Let's face it! Life in the Mountain Zone states is different than
anywhere else. We have cleaner air, purer water, the greatest snow, the
greatest scenery and the greatest people on the planet. We need a netmail
system just for us. Hence the proposal for the start of Mountain Net.
First to become a member of Mountain Net you need to operate a BBS in
one of the following Mountain Zone states: Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah,
Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. I realize there are portions of other
states that are also in the Mountain Time Zone. If this pertains to you, you
may also join.
Second, you must be able to handle qwk/rep compatible net mail on your
system. Such programs as Qmail, Qnet, MarkMail, Cam-Mail, etc. will allow you
to do this.
Third, you must be willing to maintain a new net mail system. No we
will never have thousands of messages per day, this time zone is just not that
heavily populated. However, there is a purpose to serve and it can be done
with adequate support.
There will be NO heavy policing of conferences and there will be only
ONE administration conference that you will have to carry. Other than that,
you're on your own.
Mountain Net will be very favorable to requests for added conferences.
I realize that not every conference will have mail daily, but only as needed.
I don't believe in deleting conferences just because a conference didn't get
100 messages in it that month. A conference should be there to be
used as needed and when it is needed.
Thus far, Mountain Net has the following conferences:
Administration - a private area only for BBS sysops
Montana
Arizona
Idaho
Wyoming - for mail specific only to these states
Utah
Colorado
New Mexico
Viewer Mail - for anything for anybody!
Skiing - for all you snow bunnies
Baseball - for our new Colorado baseball team (finally)
Sightseeing - for those great areas to visit
Computers - anything and everything to do with computers
Modems - anything to do with modems and telecommunications
User Groups - we need to know about local User Groups
Religion
Debate
SciFi - anything pertaining to Science Fiction
ForSale - whatever you'd like to sell
Cats
Dogs
Monty Python
Utah Shakespearean Festival - this conference is officially
sponsored and maintained by the USF
(whatever else you want, we are growing quickly)
More conferences as we grow!
How do you join? It's easy. There are NO forms to fill out. Just
call BBS-Cedar City (Main Hub) and fill out script questionnaire #3 and your
access to the Mountain Net will be granted within 24 hours (no kidding). I
will maintain a list of all BBS systems echoing Mountain Net and you may
change hubs at any time. I hope to have a Super Regional hub in each
state and State Hubs echoing mail from each Super Regional Hub.
Come join us on a brand new net just for us of the forgotten Mountain
Zone states!
You can call BBS-Cedar City at 801-586-2067 or 801-586-3935 (24
hours). We use high speed USR modems on both nodes. The 3935 number uses a
Dual Standard modem.
If you are in the Mountain Time Zone state we need you!
Also, if there is a local net in your area that would like to join in
on Mountain Net, we would be glad to have you. We need to unite and become an
informative solid group.
